All right, here it is. A few weeks ago some visiting speakers wife gave a comment that almost made me want to hurl. These people are know for having "goods" in the form of info passed along from people at bethel. Anyway, I guess one of these bethel guys have been saying in their talks that we are so deep into the end of this system that in relation to the Giant image related in the book of Daniel, we are now not simply in the peroid of time represented by the feet, WE ARE IN ITS TOES!
This totally made me shake my head as to why "True" Christians would have to be consumed with such absurd hype.

2001: A Space Odyssey
This is my favorite of all time. Some call it boaring, but I think people just get angry because it goes over their heads. -

Have any weird home remedies?
by free2beme ini was comparing notes awhile back with a friend, about some weird home remedies we were raised with and how often they do work.
what i was wondering, did you have any of these in your family and if so, what were they.
i will give you a couple of examples of my own.. for a cold, my mom would mix lemon juice, whisky and honey and warm them up and we would drink this as a home made cough syrup.

When I got carsick during a family trip my grandfather told me to put paper on my chest. Mabyee he hoped that I would laugh about his remedy and forget about my stomach. I still laugh about it.

Another Newbie
by FadingAway ini've been reading this forum for a while and i felt it was time to post my experience.
i am very comforted when i read others experiences and how similar they are to mine, i don't feel alone.. anyway, i learned the truth in 97, got baptized in 98. all of sudden i was getting prvileges, parts on the ca and dc and had friends that seemed to care about me and i cared for them.
eventually the love started to cool off, the meetings felt like watching reruns of a bland tv show.

I can understand where you are coming from. We even came in about the same peroid of time. I could never understand how a loving God could kill my parents because they didn't believe in a man made religious structure. May God continue to bless your efforts.

I have come across this information before in the book "The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah". It is very interesting to see that these shepards could have been the ones looking after the temple flock. It really dosn't tell us anything about WHEN Jesus was born, but helps us appreciate how much we really don't know about his birth, when it occured and all the circumstances surrounding it.

The Bottom Line
by feelinsketchy innot long ago i saw a post to the effect that the writer just doesn't care anymore about the dubs.
i understand perfectly.
i'll go a step further by saying that although i care about the damage caused by the borg to individuals and families, every experience is important and no doubt painful, for me there is something that hits me to the core.. the more important (to me anyway) work that is being done by this board and others like it is to proclaim (sorry about the language) that this group advocates the violent destruction of all except those that get to all the meetings and put in ten hours a month.

The entire expierance of "learning" from the witnesses is one of gradual progression and conversion. If you where told such things as "Jesus hand selected our group in 1919" when you first let them talk to you, the conversation would have been over. The way their ministry is designed is that individuals members are hand picked, gradually coverted over a long peroid of time. No member can ever understand everything the Witnesses belive, but since everything seems so logical, after time they begin to simply trust what is published and no longer question. It's amazing how questions are encouraged and seen as a sign of desire to learn at the begining and discouraged and viewed as lack of faith once you enter!!!!
Remember too this is why the preaching work is so "secret". No signs on the Kingdom Hall to tell others what the talk will be for the week! Nothing is done is such a public way. It is secretive. I know from discussion with Witnesses that they never can put togeather why people in the territory don't understand them and think they are a cult. I think the answer is obvious.
In conclusion the believer eventually stops making up his own mind and begins to simply accept what is being told. FEAR, let me say that again FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR is what keeps them from going any further. Most cannot sacrifice the COMFORT of what an organization can bring in order to be a free Christian. -

I also can see that they try to quiet some of the arguments put forth in Raymond Franzs books by adding new interpretation. Was the "happy state" on page 303 ever believed before? Thanks

"The days of enthusiastic young people coming through the ranks and 'reaching out' for responsibilty are long gone."
This is so true. Does anybody remember that absurd pamphlet printed on GLOSSY PAPER made as a call out to the "young ones" to reach out? You can totally see what is happening, they are loosing the battle with their youth. -

"Hosea" WT Study, Walking With God
by willowmoon ini found yesterday's wt study to be one of the more thoughtful in recent weeks.
it carried some important lessons and reminders, especially in reinforcing the kindness and mercy with which jehovah views us, even when we are at our very worst.
i'm still thinking about it today... .

How about the generic "be on guard against apostates" at the end of the lesson. One older brother was going to comment on this part, but they missed his hand. I was really hoping to hear what he had to say, i'm sure it would have been good.
In my congregation the love is far removed. Everyone sounds like a robot when talking about it. From what I understand the situation is much worse than other congregations in our circut.
